For the Spanish speakers, I have been listening to Solo Le Pido a Dios by Leon Geico. In English, I love The Porter’s Gate albums called Lament and Justice. Jon Guerra has a couple of great protest/lament songs - Citizens and American Gospel.

Speaking only English (having no ear at all for languages), I had to go to Google. That is a beautiful and very moving song.

"I only ask of God

Don't let pain be indifferent to me

Don't let the dry death find me

Empty and lonely without having done enough"

Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

I was just commenting on this with a coworker. The arts have really NOT stepped up to the plate on modern political commentary. I'm a child of the 90s, so I always think of Rage Against The Machine. This generation needs their own Rage Against The Machine. I guess the machine won.

We need more songs. We need more songs in English, but we also need mores songs in every language spoken in the United States (more than 400). Music brought us through the Revolution in the 1700s, and we still need it today. Thank you for bringing this music, Professor.

I admit "War" has been at the top of the music in my head, but also a little ditty about Hitler from England in WWII, as rewritten for the present regime here.
