The picture you display is only a fraction of it. I was truly flabbergasted when I saw those images of racks full of file boxes, row upon row. This wasn't an oversight as with Pence and (I suspect) Biden. This was a massive, intentional crime, a felony by someone who does think he is above the law - any law.

There can be only one reason he would abscond with that volume of highly classified documents. Some of that material was heading to the highest bidder, or possibly to someone Trump wanted to impress. Either way, it is treasonous.

being “above the law” means little in most cases. Just ask OJ.

he with the best lawyers and a favorable judge wins.

If you want a clear understanding of what went wrong with that trial, read Jeffrey Toobin's The Run of His Life, and Vincent Bugliosi's Outrage.

As for federal criminal trials, the defense almost never wins, so your "best lawyers" comment is untrue at the federal level (and also mostly at the state level as well). The U.S. Attorney's Offices have close to a 95% success rate. The "best" lawyers lose in federal courts every day. It is not a system geared to the defense. U.S. Attorneys will rarely even indict a case unless they have a better than 90% shot at conviction.

FYI, the people whom have followed Warren for years that I had some interactions with in years past are back. Having to reblock them as I have no interest in interacting with Trolls. I have my opinion. You have yours. Just do not come at me with an attitude of "your such a %$##! idiot because you disagree with me!" I am an independent. Can't stand any politicians. Can't stand the right or the left. Can't stand the narcissism. Think Biden and Trump are the worst presidents of my lifetime. Not interested in arguing with anyone about that. I am glad that Trump will likely be in jail, but concerned about whom may follow him. I see a nasty, bloody civil war coming between the parties. I am not going to praise anyone involved in the violence. The war is cold but it sometimes gets hot.

I hope (though I don't expect) that this is advice you might be willing to listen to:

If you have a general feeling that someone or something is icky, but you can't give any reasons for it, and feel flustered and upset if challenged to do so--you may be living in an unhealthy information environment which is feeding you bad feelings without good reasons. It would be a good time to look hard at your information sources, think about their agendas, their truthfulness, their tone, and remove yourself from information sources that aren't healthy for you.

The other possibility to consider is that you're invested in a particular image of yourself which doesn't fit the facts very well, and friction between self-image and reality is causing you distress. I would really strongly advise against adopting a self-image of Independent that requires you to hate both parties equally. It's unlikely, at any given moment, that both parties have equally earned your hate, and tying your self-image to this falsehood is going to warp your thinking. You can be Independent without this.

The last thing I or anyone else needs online is for others to tell us that we are idiots for having a particular opinion or that we need to behave in such and such a way. Long ago I gave up on trying to adjust anyone's thinking or actions online. It just comes across as rude. This is why I have been blocking certain other followers for years and will continue. I expressed my opinion to Warren, someone I consider a friend. I do not come here to be abused. Some people, like you, would get very angry if I wrote what you just wrote to me. Continue in this vain vein and I will have to block you as well.

When you express strident opinions on a public forum, you should expect others to express strident opinions in return. That's how public discourse works. Telling people you're not interested in hearing them is not going to work.

You certainly have the right to believe that Biden is as bad as Trump, but given the complete lack of objective evidence for such an opinion, don't be surprised when people tell you that they believe your opinion to be outrageously wrong, and why.

Perhaps, as others have suggested, taking a break from the forum would be a good idea. We can all benefit from doing that from time to time -- I certainly have over the years.

I am not here to argue about one party being great and the other demonic. They both are narcissistic and take advantage of their followers. Time to block you too...

I don't think you are an idiot.

I do think you sound very unhappy. I hope things improve for you in future. I won't offer advice again as it's not helpful.

Unfortunately this has been his M.O. for years. He asserts a strong opinion then contends that anyone who responds is attacking him unfairly. He's never engaged in good faith. People have responded to him strongly, or softly, it does not matter. Either we make space for his opinions, unchallenged, or we are trolls who are attacking him. He seems to mistake comment sections for a self publishing platform rather than a community discussion.

There is also the fact that he assumes he is the most logical person in any discussion, going so far as to assert to others that since he uses poor Mr Nimoy as his avatar it means he's the logical one. That part just gets bizarre.

It's too bad, were he the principled 'centrist' he claims to be, rather than a person who only seems to get upset when the right wing is exposed, he might be fun to discuss and debate with. Unfortunately my feeling is that he's a conservative who is seeking to pretend not to approve of 'his side' by making the unjustified claim that both sides are equally bad, this absolving him of having to justify his biases.

Thanks for trying to reach out, but as you can see no matter how much honey you use, he'll always react with vinegar.

You tend to make provocative statements without a willingness to entertain challenges. If you are not interested in debate, why are you commenting? The only monologue here is Warren's as it is his blog (and even he takes some time to respond). It requires no courage to say "a pox on both your houses" and retreat, nor does it make for especially interesting discussion.

That said, I asked what you meant by the "bizarre things the left is promoting" comment. Let's discuss it like adults, civilly and without the insults.

The fact that Trump was allowed to keep his passport and wasn't required to post bail might not show that he's above the law, but it certainly shows that the powerful and wealthy are indeed held to a very different legal standard than the rest of us.

But we already knew that, didn't we?

There is no truer malignant narcissist than Trump. And he does think he is above the law that is obvious. But the crazy thing is that people who claim to follow Jesus Christ vote for such a lawless one. Such are antiChrists but the knee jerk reaction to bizarre things the left is promoting is creating a situation where people would gladly vote for the Devil himself as long as he claims to be against all of the bizarreness. The more lawless Trump becomes the more his fans want to vote for him as they blame everything on the left. I have never seen politicians as bad in my life as the top candidates on both sides. I see a great deal of violence in our future...

This is bizarre.

You may dislike Joe Biden (I do) but he is a milquetoast President who has taken very few actions of note, and most of those are extremely standard: for example, he negotiated to prevent a debt ceiling default. Can you give a specific reason to class him with Nixon, Trump, or even Marjorie Greene (who just bragged of committing a federal crime on national TV)?

He's been in politics for decades. We have a pretty good idea of his personality, and it's clear he is not going to egg on a mob to invade the Capitol, or show classified documents to a book author to make himself feel important, or call up a Secretary of State and demand that a specific number of votes be "found."

As far as I can tell, though he's spouted some untruths and been sloppy with some documents, that's about as bad as he gets.

Maybe cool it with the unthinking "both sides" there, unless you can back it up with complaints that are both specific and truthful. (No "Hunter Biden's laptop" please.)

Nobody forces anyone to vote for "the devil" other than those who make the choice. Even if one feels much of "the left" in whatever ill-defined form it may take for each person promotes 'bizarre things" they still own their choice to vote for "the devil" as you call it, and pay the consequences of such.

All that said, the USA has no political party that is considered leftist by any reasonable standard. There are a few leftist politicians, but there is no organized party with a leftist platform or power great enough to enact such a platform. The furthest left party of today would be considered center right both by global and historical USA standards on most issues.

I still consider both of you guys as being annoying jerks, by the way. You talk like Trump which is very irritating, only from the opposite end of the spectrum.

Ah, so after someone disagrees with your tired old (and patently false) "both-sides" argument and somehow blaming Trump on the left, your only response is to attack them and call them jerks?

Face it, you have nothing.

I'd also challenge you to find any off-the-cuff remarks from Trump that are remotely as coherent as the comments here (even yours).

What " bizarre things the left is promoting" do you mean? I hope you don't refer to the drag show and groomer nonsense that has been created to provide yet more red meat to their base. It amazes me how so many still react to whatever is dished out to them as though on cue.
